Sometimes something in life is so overwhelmingly beautiful--so awe-inspiring--that trying to capture the spirit and feeling of it with words is just too impossible. Blogging about the miracle of the two precious lives that have joined our family has seemed a little like trying to funnel a roaring waterfall of emotion through the eye of a needle. So, I'll just simply announce that my sweet, precious boys made their grand entrance on February 13 (at 38 weeks, thank you very much). [Given the space of time that has passed since my last post, I was hoping it didn't appear that I had a pregnancy with a duration that rivals that of elephants....though I could have given an elephant a run for her money on pure poundage, there at the end. :)] Shepherd Max and Sawyer George are pure light and love. I am just so, so thankful.
Rest assured that these guys are in a constant state of being documented by their crazy mother. (Last count was six thousand plus pictures at six months....someone help me. and them.) I just find myself wanting to remember every single detail. I realize how fleeting this sweet season of babyhood will be, and (to borrow a phrase from the ever-poetic Mr. Tyler) I don't want to miss a thing. Shepherd's crooked grin that breaks across his face when he makes eye contact with someone he loves. Sawyer's sweet, gentle singing voice. (I can hear him singing in his sleep right now, in fact. melting!) Shepherd's four (FOUR!) arm fat rolls. Sawyer's hipster hair do. Their crazy-weird Noah's ark toy that sometimes randomly plays Christmas music. (?) I love it all so much. so much. Again, we are just overwhelmed with gratitude and thank God for the undeserved blessing of getting to parent these two little men.
Here's a little video of the boys at play. (I use the word "little" loosely. At 7 minutes, it's definitely the extended, director's cut version. We knew our parents would be willing to watch hours, so there it is.) ;)
